RN - Urology Medical/Surgical Unit
About the Role

Cleveland Clinic’s G90 Urology Medical/Surgical Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients. The unit focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention, and ambulation. Patients range in age from young adult to geriatric, with the most common population around 65 years old.
Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion.
A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation, from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- One year of current acute care RN experience (military RN experience will be considered).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $55.60
The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
