RN – Surgical Medical Unit

About the Role

Join Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognized for professional nursing practice. This role involves providing stellar patient care in the 9 Surgical Unit, a 16-bed unit offering a wide range of surgical and post-surgical services to adult patients. You will work in a family atmosphere with a positive work environment, assisting fellow caregivers from patient introduction to discharge. This position offers direct interaction with patients, families, and visitors, enhancing their experience and providing healthcare education.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. OR 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 - $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
