RN – Telemetry/Neurology Unit

About the Role

Join Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital’s team of caregivers providing top-quality patient care to the Port St. Lucie area. This state-of-the-art acute care facility, opened in 2013 and expanded in 2017, features 177 patient rooms and offers a wide variety of services. The Telemetry/Neurology Unit specializes in monitoring neurological conditions and diagnoses, including post-stroke patients downgraded from the PCU or ICU. As an RN, you will assist in delivering exceptional care, interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, and provide healthcare education. This position works PRN (as needed) on variable shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families, considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must obtain within one year of hire if not already certified).
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified).

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
