About the Role

Join Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital’s team of caregivers that provide top-quality patient care to the Port St. Lucie area. Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers a wide variety of services to meet community needs. The Telemetry/Neurology Unit specializes in the monitoring of various neurological conditions and diagnoses, including many post-stroke patients who have been downgraded from the PCU or ICU.

As a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) on this team, you will work varying nights from 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, assisting fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care while interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors. The Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families, considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the AHA or American Red Cross (must obtain within one year of hire if not already certified).
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified).

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
