About the role
As a registered nurse in the telephone consultation department at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, you will play a crucial role in helping patients and healthcare organizations navigate the healthcare system. Your responsibilities include assessing patients, offering appropriate care options, facilitating referrals, and maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and complete information about available resources
- Record significant health history for caller
- Assign relevant health risk tags to caller
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Maintain a customer-driven professional attitude
- Close call by thanking caller and offering service for future inquiries for 90 percent of inbound calls
- Facilitate productivity, team building, and high team morale in the clinic
- Accept incoming calls from patients requesting assistance with acute or chronic medical issues
- Establish and maintain a positive rapport with callers and/or family members as an advocate to assist them through the healthcare system
- Complete registration information and/or confirm current patient data for all inbound calls
- Consistently and accurately record patient complaints, symptoms, and problems as well as nursing assessment following departmental documentation guidelines
- Directly address and seek to rectify complaints or concerns from all callers while documenting and forwarding them to management
- Utilize knowledge in referencing the appropriate triage guideline for 100 percent of caller
- Create progress notes that document the assessment, information provided, and the disposition in the event that a pertinent database resource document does not exist
- Document all inquiries for medico legal/statistical purposes
- Schedule call-back within 24 hours for 10 percent of all emergency referrals to determine compliance with recommendations
Requirements
- Associates of Applied Science in Nursing
- RN from an approved school of nursing with current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
- 5+ years progressive clinical RN experience in acute care setting for adult and/or pediatric patients
- Proven basic PC skills including Windows Operating System
- Proven typing skills of 30 WPM
- Proven excellent communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- 3+ years RN experience in an Emergency Department preferred
- 1+ years of Triage nurse experience preferred

Pay
The hourly pay for this role will range from $29.00 - $52.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
