RN Tele Nights 5k Sign on Bonus

About the role

Join Baylor The Heart Hospital Dallas as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Tele unit. Patient population includes post cardiotomy, cardiology interventional, post vascular surgical/interventional, and advanced heart failure patients.

Schedule: Full-time nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel and address patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues while adhering to the Texas Nursing Practice Act; delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans; adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
  • Develop care plans reflecting patient values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices; assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans; delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff; recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development while demonstrating a commitment to community service.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Active RN license.
  • BLS certification (must obtain within 30 days of starting the role if not already certified).
  • Minimum of 1 year of true, recent Telemetry RN experience.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area, as well as hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
