About the Role

Join Baylor The Heart Hospital Dallas as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Tele unit. Patient population includes post cardiotomy, cardiology interventional, post vascular surgical/interventional, and advanced heart failure patients. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates with a minimum of 2 years RN experience. Relocation assistance is offered for eligible candidates relocating 50+ miles.

Schedule

Full-time Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel and address patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues while following the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegating tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting as needed to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly.
  • Use problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification (must obtain within 30 days of starting if not already certified).
  • Minimum of 1 year of true, recent Telemetry RN experience.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area, as well as hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
