$20k Sign-On Bonus available. 3x12 hr day shifts, varying based on department needs. Requires RN Circulating Operating Room experience.

This role involves supervising, assessing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care and staff development, while maintaining unit or program needs and standards using the nursing process and evidence-based information.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees staff to ensure adequate patient care, including hiring, onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Establishes or contributes to care plans, including administering medication, managing IV lines, therapies, treatments, and consulting with physicians.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and financial stewardship, including budget development and maintenance.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and visitors to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes.
  • Teaches patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment care, nutrition, exercise, and self-administration of medication.
  • Facilitates inter/intra-departmental collaboration, communications, and problem-solving.
  • Participates in policy revisions, committees, and goal/action planning for the unit.
  • Contributes to recruitment and retention of staff through mentorship and fostering a quality practice environment.
  • Coordinates educational and professional activities related to department/unit needs.
  • Regularly rounds with physicians, patients, or families to improve patient experience and quality of care.
  • Utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide and evaluate patient care.
  • Initiates and supports quality improvement initiatives and utilizes resources effectively.
  • Directs staff in applying the nursing process and coordinates patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution.
  • Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) state licensure.
  • Must obtain a certification in their respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion for magnet standards.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience required; 3 years preferred.
  • All staff with direct responsibility for stroke patient care must have knowledge of:
    • Stroke symptoms and warning signs.
    • Protocols and pathways for stroke patient identification, evaluation, and management.
    • NIHSS Stroke Alert activation and protocol.
    • Stroke quality indicators.
    • Available stroke patient education materials and community resources.
    • Educational requirements and Stroke Center website resources.
