Unit Capacity and Population Served
Unit Capacity: 36 Beds. Population Served: Cardiac and Neuro Stepdown. Services Provided: Cardiac bedside monitoring, Cardiac drips, TR bands, Post heart caths, Stroke/Neuro patients, BIPAP overflows. Age Range: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+).
Nurse to Patient Ratios and Core Staffing Plan
Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6. Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid including: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). RN assumes full responsibility for patients on each team.
Staffing Certification and Required Skills
Staffing Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
