About the Role

Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
  • One (1) year of nursing experience required.
  • Must possess a current Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida or a valid RN compact license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for Pediatric areas (except NICU); new hires from a non-pediatric background have 30 days to obtain PALS.
  • NRP certification required for NICU; new hires from a non-NICU background have 30 days to obtain NRP.
  • Certification in Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) through the National Credential Center or AWOHNN required for Labor & Delivery RNs prior to completion of job orientation.
  • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for RNs administering chemotherapy.
  • APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months of hire for RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indications in pediatric settings.

Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
