About the role

Located at Mercy Hospital Southeast- Cardiovascular Consultants, 371 S Broadview, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. The incumbent integrates the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and dignity, applying Christian values to crucial human issues. A caring, friendly, personal and professional approach is expected when communicating with patients, families, visitors and employees. Performs related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to patients.
• Assist physicians in patient treatment.
• Complete related clinical paperwork.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current valid state nursing license.
• CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Knowledge of nursing principles, skills for examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
• Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, self‑care program principles, instruments and common safety practices.
• No prior experience required.

Skills

• Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
• Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or ability to learn them, to access information and enter clinical data.
• Ability to operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic.
