It prepares new graduates by teaching essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors for continuous improvement in patient care.

Responsibilities

The staff nurse:

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth to end-of-life
  • Utilizes nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Maintains standards of practice and coordinates care activities

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Graduate of a nursing program
  • New graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • Current license in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification required

Additional Qualifications

Prior to 2026, additional qualifications may have been required such as:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable
