About the role

UC San Diego Health is seeking dynamic Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) RNs with strong critical thinking, communication, care coordination, and patient advocacy skills to join our Hematology Cellular Therapy (HCT) Clinic team.

Responsibilities

  • Care and treatments coordination, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) testing and CAR-T therapy
  • Comprehensive oncology nursing care for patients and their families
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments to coordinate patient treatment and care
  • Develops, interprets, evaluates, implements, and documents patients' plans of care
  • Provides teaching, counseling, consultation, and nursing care independently and as directed by the physician or advanced practice provider

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
  • RN license issued by the State of California
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent RN experience in an outpatient BMT setting
  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary care coordination experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff, physicals, patients, and their families
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively with team members across multiple departments
  • Excellent critical thinking, clinical and patient teaching skills with vulnerable patient population
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly prioritize and manage care in fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning (e.g. professional certification, clinical ladder advancement, and so forth)

Qualifications

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • Oncology Certification (OCN) preferred
  • Recent experience with processing prior authorizations for specialty medications and durable medical equipment preferred
  • Experience with vulnerable patient populations preferred

Skills

Autonomous nursing care and independent judgment are essential for this role.

Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Schedule

Days, 10-Hour Shifts, Monday-Friday
