About the role
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care within the RN scope of practice, as defined by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and VA regulations. The position is part-time and primarily day shift, with flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents.
- Provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff and make or recommend changes.
- Mentor other staff in providing quality care.
- Perform MDS assessments as needed.
Requirements
- Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Effective communication skills.
- Computer skills for electronic charting.
Qualifications
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment.
- Experience working with a Veteran population.
- Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Skills
- Ability to evaluate and implement nursing care.
- Effective communication and teaching skills.
- Computer proficiency for electronic charting.
