About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) position at Mount Carmel East focuses on delivering care that respects each patient's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. This role adheres to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and operates within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice;
- Aids providers with patient assessment, examinations, and treatments;
- Performs basic medical procedures under the supervision of a provider, including setting up procedures;
- Administers medications under the direction of the provider, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines;
- Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the provider;
- Thoroughly educates and explains procedures to patients and family members (diagnosis, disease process, etc.);
- Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines;
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.

Mount Carmel East boasts a comprehensive cardiovascular center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a dedicated Women’s Health Center, a maternity center, a Network Cancer Program, and a robust orthopedics and spine program. It houses Mount Carmel’s Level II Trauma Center, offering critical access to emergency services in eastern central Ohio. Recently, the facility underwent a $310 million modernization, enhancing its clinical services and patient conveniences with a new five-story patient tower, 12 operating rooms, expanded cafeteria and kitchen, new main entrance, and improved parking and outdoor spaces.
