RN - Registered Nurse ( Nights )

This position is located in Atchison, KS and offers a full-time night shift from 5:30pm to 6:00am.

About the role

Valley Hope of Atchison, located just northwest of Kansas City, has provided residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment services since 1972. Valley Hope nurses specialize in making patients feel loved from the moment they walk in the door by providing compassionate medical care, key to the short and long-term success of patients in recovery. Nurses typically work with patients from admission to discharge, providing supportive medical care over 30-45 days of treatment, offering a unique treatment approach, and a rewarding work experience with hands-on help for patients to heal and recover in real time. The work is fulfilling, mission-focused, yet more relaxed than the standard hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Execute prescribed treatments and medication interventions as established for each patient.
• Implement nursing care in accordance with Valley Hope’s medical philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.
• Conduct detox admissions and provide patient care during the patient detoxification process including pre-screening of patients, obtaining physical assessment data and health history, administering detox treatment plans, and monitoring of patient.
• Record treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; complete paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Communicate with nursing supervisors, nursing staff, and clinical staff regarding patients’ treatment and status.
• Follow established policies and procedures for all medical emergencies (e.g., convulsions, suicides, Delirium Tremens).
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.
• Oversee non-licensed nursing staff as instructed by and under the direction of the facility Nursing Director.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in nursing.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice in the state of employment.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• One (1) year of clinical nursing care work experience.
• Previous experience in substance abuse/behavioral health environments preferred.

Pay

Shift differentials:

• Night: $5.00
• Weekend Night: $5.50
• Weekend Day: $1.00
