RN - Registered Nurse - Bed Management Coordinator
About the role
UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham offers an alternating shift schedule on Saturdays and Sundays from 7a - 7p, followed by the same schedule in the following week but reversed (7p - 7a).
Responsibilities
- Cook up a centralized bed management system to speed up admissions and transfers, maximize room usage, and prevent delays in service.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to keep track of pending discharges, transfers, and bed availability, then assign beds accordingly.
- Evaluate all admissions and transfers to ensure they are medically necessary and clinically appropriate, taking corrective actions if needed.
- Guide and assist admissions coordinators to ensure smooth patient access and movement through the hospital.
- Analyze bed management data, spot issues, and suggest solutions, preparing reports for senior executives.
Requirements
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse (APRN) credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before start or transfer date.
- A diploma from an accredited nursing school and current professional licensure at the time of hire.
