The minimum hiring rate is $41.50, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. About the role

Join a 30-bed private-room, post-surgical care unit (HFAM6) specializing in orthopedic, medical/surgical, and telemetry care for a diverse adult population. The unit features bariatric rooms with overhead lifts, negative pressure rooms, and an on-site patient gym. Geisinger Medical Center holds ANCC Magnet Recognition® for nursing excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs.
  • Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve safety, satisfaction, and high-quality care.
  • Coordinate patient care and staff interactions, ensuring optimal patient and family experiences.
  • Complete assessments per scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including education and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response.
  • Collaborate with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary teams to resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Troubleshoot and take corrective measures for equipment care and handling.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making for evidence-based practice.
  • Actively contribute to team goals, unit metrics, and organizational quality and safety initiatives.
  • Engage in patient quality and safety education programs.

Schedule

  • Full time, night shift, 1.0 or 0.9 FTE.
  • Every other weekend and holiday.
  • Option to transition to 0.9 FTE (three 12-hour shifts) post-orientation.
  • Self-scheduling for flexibility, including one "free weekend" per year (work during the week instead of the scheduled weekend).

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.

Pay
