About the Role

Geisinger offers a per diem Inpatient RN position with market-leading pay rates and up to $7 shift differential for evening, night, and weekend shifts. This role involves assessing, planning, organizing, performing, and evaluating nursing activities to meet patient needs, promoting adaptive responses to achieve high levels of patient care, safety, and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs.
  • Promote adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of care and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate patient care and staff interactions to optimize patient and family experience.
  • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including patient/family education and discharge planning.
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response.
  • Collaborate with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in equipment care.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding evidence-based practice.
  • Actively contribute as a team member to achieve unit and organizational goals.
  • Participate in patient quality and safety education programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania.

Unit Details

Advanced Acute Care Orthopaedics (HFAM6) is a 30-bed private room, post-surgical care unit specializing in orthopedic, medical/surgical, and telemetry care for a diverse adult population. The unit includes:

  • 2 bariatric rooms with overhead lifts.
  • 2 negative pressure rooms.
  • An on-site patient gym to partner with physical and occupational therapy.

Schedule

Per Diem employees will self-schedule a minimum of 24 hours of availability on every 4-week schedule. Per diem employees are required to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per schedule on a weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun), holiday, or alternate shift.
