RN Procedures - Urology - Full-Time

About the Role

A registered professional nurse at Erlanger Health System provides direct and/or indirect patient care under physician supervision. The procedure nurse closely monitors patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures. This role involves coordinating procedure scheduling, conducting patient assessments, starting IVs, administering medications, drawing lab work, and performing patient history and physical assessments. The nurse must recognize risks and complications related to procedures. When not in the procedure area, the nurse assists providers and staff with patient care tasks or other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate procedure time and scheduling.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments tailored to individual needs and age groups.
• Start IVs, administer medications, and draw lab work.
• Take patient history and perform physical assessments.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive procedures.
• Recognize risks and complications related to procedures through physical assessment knowledge.
• Assist providers and staff in the department with patient care tasks or other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (required).
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee (required).
• BLS certification completed prior to unit/department assignment and maintained (required).
• Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
• Knowledge of general nursing principles, organizational policies, and current trends in healthcare.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in surgical specialty procedures.
• ACLS certification.
