RN – Post Surgical Unit

About the Role

Marymount Hospital’s 2 East and 2 South units provide general medical care and pre-/post-operative care to patients requiring orthopaedic surgical interventions (e.g., hip and knee replacements, fractures) and various surgical procedures (e.g., hysterectomy, TURPs, thyroidectomy, cholecystectomy, debridements). Both units specialize in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, wound VACs, and endocrinology disorders.

A multidisciplinary team—including registered nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacy support, and case management—works collaboratively to help patients achieve full recovery through individualized attention, education, and encouragement.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will consider work history, experience, skill set, and education. The range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement contributions).

Schedule

Day/night rotation: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
