About the role
The Charge Nurse coordinates daily activities and work distribution in their assigned area during their scheduled shift. The Preceptor Nurse acts as a professional educator and resource for new employees, demonstrating clinical expertise and competence.
Responsibilities
- Approximately 80% participation in direct patient care activities
- 20% Charge-Preceptor duties, which may vary based on patient acuity and volume
- Provide care and services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Set priorities based on the situation at hand
- Combine direct patient care, shift supervision/management (charge), and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during a clinical shift
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations
- Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
- Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
- Preferred BSN degree
- Two (2) years recent experience in current clinical specialty (i.e., critical care, surgical services, diabetes education, radiology, etc.)
- Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units
- Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units
Qualifications
