About the role
The Pediatric/Adult Unit consists of 15-beds to provide care to children from birth to age 18. Additionally, we take overflow adult patients with uncomplicated medical, surgical, orthopedic, and OB/GYN diagnoses as needed. Admission of adult patients excludes those with specific diagnoses that requires a higher level of specialized care. We work with families to make their children's hospitalization less traumatic by encouraging parental involvement.
Responsibilities
- Independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families;
- Plans and implements appropriate interventions;
- Evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner;
- Provides safe and effective care in conjunction with the medical plan of care.
Requirements
- Current Missouri Registered Nurse License or current Registered Nurse License from a compact state;
- If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence;
- If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days;
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days;
- AHA PALS Provider within 365 days;
- RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
