RN Patient Safety Coordinator

About the Role

Elevate your professional practice and career by applying your clinical, communication, and educational skills as a Patient Safety Coordinator. This role evaluates and implements the organization’s overall plan for patient safety, focusing on patient safety priorities as defined by Trinity Health and Saint Alphonsus. You will provide facilitation and consultation to Nursing leadership and participate in the Nursing Council structure, serving as a primary point of contact for the integrated patient safety program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of the organization’s patient safety strategic plan as it pertains to safe nursing practice.
• Develops and provides education and mentoring to Saint Alphonsus' Nursing Teams.
• Participates in unit-based meetings and other committees/meetings that align with patient safety initiatives.
• Travels within the area to make frequent rounds on nursing units/clinics, including four hospitals and ambulatory sites.
• Consults with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to identify patient safety opportunities.
• Observes and evaluates practice/process change progress.
• Provides just-in-time training and answers questions.
• Conducts audits or other data collection methods to evaluate progress on outcome or process measures.
• Maintains databases on process and outcome metrics.
• Displays, analyzes, and communicates findings related to nursing quality and patient safety.
• Maintains compliance with Joint Commission standards.
• Identifies evidence-based practice related to patient safety initiatives and assimilates it into current processes.
• Exercises judgment and tactful discussion of clinical quality and safety issues.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• Experience as a program coordinator, in a nursing leadership position, or as an educator preferred.
• Experience with leading project improvement initiatives.
• Basic database development, data display, and analysis preferred.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice methodology preferred.
• Self-directed and professional with critical thinking skills.

Schedule

The selected candidate may support this role in either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. Remote work up to 25% is possible after establishing relationships.

Office locations: Boise or Nampa, Idaho.
