About the role
Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
- May precept student nurses and new hires.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Requirements
- Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (multiple accepted formats listed)
- Registered Nurse Compact License or Florida RN License
- One (1) year of RN work experience
Department-specific credentials:
- ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for RNs administering chemotherapy.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas.
- PALS required for Pediatric areas (except NICU).
- Certification in Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) through National Credential Center or AWOHNN for L&D RNs.
- Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS, PALS, and/or Fetal Monitoring if applicable.
- RNs from non-pediatric backgrounds must obtain PALS within 30 days of hire.
RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of independent RN practice (excluding orientation) and ACLS/BLS certifications.
