RN, Outpatient On-Call

Role Overview

The registered nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients within a team, supporting quality health services in both in-person and phone interactions. The role involves applying nursing processes, leadership, and critical thinking to meet the acute and chronic needs of diverse patient populations, while adhering to organizational policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based, culturally sensitive nursing care using assessment tools, clinical pathways, and research-based knowledge.
• Coordinate care across settings, promote health education, and support patient self-management and disease prevention.
• Utilize health information systems effectively for decision support and quality improvement.
• Participate in population health activities, outreach, and patient education initiatives.
• Demonstrate leadership by mentoring staff, fostering team collaboration, and supporting organizational change.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and share knowledge with team members.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and comply with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, including HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of recent RN experience in acute or ambulatory care, including critical care.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; high school diploma or GED required.
• Valid RN license and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or within specified timeframes).
• Strong clinical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in teams and dynamic environments.
• Willingness to learn computerized systems and obtain moderate sedation competency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in population health, case management, triage, or outpatient sedation procedures.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or related field.
