About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in the Ortho Med Surg unit at Parkridge Medical Center, you will perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. You will utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. You will plan individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and participate in performance improvement activities. When acting in a charge nurse role, you will be responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care, make staff assignments based on patient need and acuity, serve as a role model and clinical resource, and respond to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
- Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
- Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
- Plan individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
- Participate in performance improvement activities.
- Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.
- Act as a charge nurse when required, making staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill.
- Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- Current RN licensure.
- 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
- CPR certificate.
