About the Role
Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. Integrates the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, and applies Christian values to all crucial human issues. A caring, friendly, personal, and professional approach is expected in all communications with patients, families, visitors, and employees.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in patient treatment.
- Complete related clinical paperwork.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies.
- Communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
- Access information and enter clinical data using basic computer terminal and keyboard skills.
- Operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current valid state nursing license.
- CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Knowledge of nursing principles and skills, care, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, and principles to develop a self-care program.
- Ability to learn basic computer terminal and keyboard skills.
