Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Reviewing patient history and assessing health status
  • Developing and implementing processes consistent with nursing standards
  • Implementing patient education tools and processors
  • Performing general nursing duties including evaluation, planning, implementation, and documentation of nursing care
  • Testing and administering medications within the nursing scope of practice
  • Interpreting data about patient status to identify age-specific needs and provide care
  • Performing a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and specific to unit age-specific populations
  • Adequately assessing and reassessing pain
  • Educating patients and families regarding pain management
  • Communicating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals and healthcare consumers
  • Assisting in office procedures, supply inventory management, cleaning and organizing exam rooms and equipment, scheduling and assisting in patient reception services, and office coordinator duties as necessary
  • Following ten medication rights and reducing the potential for medication errors
  • Interacting professionally with patients/families and involving them in the formation of the plan of care
  • Maintaining a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
  • Documenting care in compliance with current standards and policies
  • Using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to gather data and input quality information for EMR reporting measurements
  • Coordinating and supervising patient care as necessary
  • Assisting in successful implementation of programs to improve coding and reimbursement for office-specific procedures
  • Assisting physicians with procedures and performing services requiring technical and manual skills
  • Treating patients and their families with respect and dignity
  • Identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
  • Functions as a liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration
  • Keeps fiscally responsible for inventory and competently orders supplies, including department-specific supplies
  • Assists in identifying referring physicians and assures strong relationships are developed and preserved
  • Performs procedures such as EKGs, pre/post spirometry testing, diabetic foot exams, lab draws, injection administrations, immunotherapy, vision screenings, phone call triage, medication refills, lab orders, point of care testing, PT/INR testing, blood glucose testing, urine dipsticks, and urine pregnancy tests

Requirements

  • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse license
  • Nursing degree required for RNs, Certificate required for LPNs
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferred
  • Current BLS certification, required
  • Current ACLS certification, preferred
  • Behavior de-escalation training, required
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Sound knowledge of computers and proficient level of skill
  • Delegation, prioritization, and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of infection control, TB, blood borne pathogens, and hazardous waste plans
  • Ability to interpret data about patient status to identify age-specific needs and provide care
  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and specific to unit age-specific populations
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain
  • Knowledge of Infection Control, TB, Blood Borne Pathogens and Hazardous Waste plans
  • Ability to formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate its effectiveness
  • Ability to assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and clearly with all health care team members
  • Ability to consult other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs
  • Ability to treat patients and their families with respect and dignity
  • Ability to identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
  • Ability to function as a liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
