About the role

The Registered Nurse-OR position involves delivering patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, and planning patient outcomes. Supervision is provided by a Supervisor of Clinical Services.

Responsibilities

• Achieves comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in accordance with nursing standards and department policies.
• Affirms patient health status through assessments.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to relevant staff members.
• Legibly documents patient information in the medical record and signs the record appropriately.
• Determines patient and family expectations and establishes mutual goals.
• Formulates and implements nursing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Responds to emergencies and operates within legal and ethical guidelines.
• Adjusts care plans based on patient data.
• Completes preoperative processes, including communication and reporting.
• Performs surgical case counting and adheres to aseptic techniques.
• Maintains efficient patient turnover times.
• Obtains and verifies blood products correctly.
• Verifies patient identification according to policy.
• Identifies and marks surgical sites accurately.
• Participates in professional nursing organizations.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Hold a current Registered Nurse license.
• Have a current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skills in nursing standards and department policies.
• Ability to assess and problem-solve effectively.
• Physical demands include standing 66-100%, sitting 0-33%, walking 66-100%, lifting 0-50 lbs., carrying 0-25 lbs., pushing 0-400 lbs., climbing 1-5 flights of stairs, bending, squatting, rotating, kneeling, reaching overhead, visual and hearing senses must be adequate, and exposure to various environmental conditions.
