About the role
The Registered Nurse-OR position involves delivering patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, and planning patient outcomes. Supervision is provided by a Supervisor of Clinical Services.
Responsibilities
- Achieves comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in accordance with nursing standards and department policies.
- Affirms patient health status through assessments.
- Communicates pertinent patient information to relevant staff members.
- Legibly documents patient information in the medical record and signs the record appropriately.
- Determines patient and family expectations and establishes mutual goals.
- Formulates and implements nursing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Responds to emergencies and operates within legal and ethical guidelines.
- Adjusts care plans based on patient data.
- Completes preoperative processes, including communication and reporting.
- Performs surgical case counting and adheres to aseptic techniques.
- Maintains efficient patient turnover times.
- Obtains and verifies blood products correctly.
- Verifies patient identification according to policy.
- Identifies and marks surgical sites accurately.
- Participates in professional nursing organizations.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Hold a current Registered Nurse license.
- Have a current American Heart Association BLS certification.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills in nursing standards and department policies.
- Ability to assess and problem-solve effectively.
- Physical demands include standing 66-100%, sitting 0-33%, walking 66-100%, lifting 0-50 lbs., carrying 0-25 lbs., pushing 0-400 lbs., climbing 1-5 flights of stairs, bending, squatting, rotating, kneeling, reaching overhead, visual and hearing senses must be adequate, and exposure to various environmental conditions.
