Schedule

• 3-12 hour shifts (9:00 PM – 9:30 PM), Monday through Friday
• Days off vary
• Call required

Responsibilities

The RN's practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served.

• Records patients' medical history and symptoms, performs diagnostic tests, analyzes results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Establishes or contributes to a care plan, including administering medication, managing IV lines, providing therapies, observing and recording patient progress, and consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
• Teaches patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
• Provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegates when appropriate.
• Supports efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precepts new hires and students, and assists in completing competency tasks.
• Collects health data systematically, prioritizes based on patient needs, and involves family in the process.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and develops, implements, evaluates, and revises patient care plans that are family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
• Identifies expected outcomes and develops individualized plans of care based on evidence-based practices.
• Implements interventions, initiates treatments, medications, and emergency measures based on standing orders, policies, and procedures.
• Provides nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
• Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes and documents observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
• Evaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, and regulations.
• Integrates ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families in care delivery and professional development.
• Develops and evaluates evidence-based standards of care and participates in research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Considers safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.

Requirements

• Operating Room RN circulating experience required.
• 1 year of RN experience required for all Float Positions.
• Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing required. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5+ years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
• Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• >10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arizona upon hire required.
• National certification for unit-specific patient population preferred.
