RN Nursing Supervisor (PER DIEM)

About the role
The Nursing Supervisor, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing, has the authority and responsibility for carrying out established standards of practice and care, and providing direction in the continuing provision of nursing services at the Masonicare Health Center, a 260-bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Wallingford, CT. This role works in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Managers to ensure the quality, safety, and appropriateness of care.
Responsibilities
- Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure consistent nursing practice standards throughout the facility.
- Upholds the nursing program during off-shifts by allocating nursing personnel, coordinating nursing activities, supervising nursing staff, and serving as a clinical resource.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age, needs, and abilities of residents/patients.
- Interacts professionally with staff, physicians, patients, and families to ensure effective and efficient care delivery.
- Communicates effectively through verbal reports, written documentation, and attendance at administrative meetings to disseminate information to off-shift staff.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs both in and out of the facility.
- Attends all mandatory education programs, in-services, and meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing; BS in nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
- Current RN license in the State of Connecticut.
- CPR certification.
