RN - Nurse Manager - Surgical Services

About the role

Manages the daily operations of the assigned area(s).

Responsibilities

• Develop specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
• Assess quality of patient care and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians and other departments.
• Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
• Maintain systems to assure adequate levels of supplies and necessary equipment.
• Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations. Manage daily surgery schedule maintaining communication with all disciplines involved.
• Plan and prioritize day-to-day activities of personnel. Adjust staffing to compensate for emergency situations or increase or decrease inpatient census.

Requirements

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Credentialing as a Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program AND professional licensure/certification required. 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
