Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Intensive Care Unit.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care that meets established clinical, quality, and safety standards.
- Monitor patient care outcomes and implement strategies to improve quality, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and throughput.
People Leadership
- Recruit, hire, develop, coach, mentor, and retain a high-performing nursing team.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and implement corrective action when appropriate.
- Support employee engagement, professional development, succession planning, and leadership growth initiatives.
- Partner with nursing education and clinical leadership teams to ensure effective onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and continuing education.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, and professional excellence.
Financial and Resource Management
- Develop, manage, and monitor departmental operating and labor budgets.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and resource utilization to support patient care needs and organizational goals.
- Monitor productivity, overtime, supply utilization, and other key financial metrics.
- Identify opportunities for cost containment while maintaining high standards of patient care and employee satisfaction.
Quality and Performance Improvement
- Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
- Utilize data and key performance indicators to drive clinical and operational excellence.
- Participate in root cause analyses, action planning, and performance improvement projects.
- Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and innovation within the critical care environment.
