Responsibilities
- Delegates nursing care activities and monitors care given by appropriate care team members in accordance with patient needs, and the team member’s professional capabilities and qualifications.
- Supports use of Evidenced Based Practice and incorporates best practices into daily care routine.
- Affords assistance in creating a positive work environment by mentoring of staff/students, and working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients.
- Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
- Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance.
- Compiles with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Successfully completed an accredited nursing program required.
- All newly licensed RNs with less than six (6) months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency program.
- BSN Preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)
- Valid Nursing License with authorization to work in Iowa required.
- Basic Certified Life Support certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months from date of hire required.
- Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter.
- Completion of six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually required.
Specialty Certification
- Specialty certification is preferred.
