About the role

Audubon’s Neuro ICU Step Down is a 42-bed unit specializing in higher-acuity patients, including complex cases such as acute stroke and peritoneal dialysis. The unit is Silver Plus Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll certified by DNV, as well as a certified stroke center through DNV.

A professional nurse in this unit is accountable for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The Registered Nurse (RN) assists in maintaining unit financial stability, promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice, and operates within a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Responsibilities include ensuring patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction, as well as mentoring and precepting staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care with a focus on quality outcomes.
• Assist in maintaining financial stability of the unit.
• Promote personal and professional development through evidence-based practice and education.
• Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff members.
• Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care.
• Ensure patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
• Apply educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care and mentor/precept staff.

Qualifications

• No experience required for full-time or part-time positions.
• If PRN, must have one year of RN/LPN experience in an inpatient, acute-care setting.
• Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
