RN - Neuro ICU - Part Time, nights
Erlanger Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neuro Medical, Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NNICU). This role involves direct and/or indirect patient care.
About the Role
The NNICU Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the unit. The nurse must understand principles of growth and development over the life span, assess data reflective of the patient's acute or critical status, and respond appropriately to identified information.
A Registered Nurse in this unit must be familiar with medical and post-operative care of acute or critical neuro patients, monitor invasive lines such as ICP or ventricular drains, and be proficient in neurological exams. The nurse will provide care according to the unit's policies and procedures, assess patients, develop and implement plans of care, administer pharmacological drugs, perform procedures, and operate necessary equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Neuro Medical, Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
- Assess, select, develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care.
- Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered.
- Perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care.
- Monitor invasive lines such as ICP or ventricular drains.
- Conduct neurological exams and provide care for acute or critical neuro patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span.
- Interpret and respond to patient data reflective of acute or critical status.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (required).
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee (required).
- BLS certification completed prior to unit/department assignment and maintained (required).
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
- Understanding of organizational functions and regulations.
- Awareness of current trends and new developments in nursing.
- For non-Tennessee residents, Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire.
