About the Role

A registered professional nurse at Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient in the Neuro Medical and Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NNICU). The NNICU nurse must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and the ability to assess and interpret acute or critical patient data. This role requires familiarity with medical and post-operative care of acute or critical neuro patients, including monitoring invasive lines such as ICP or ventricular drains, and proficiency in neurological exams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in NNICU.
  • Assess, select, develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care.
  • Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered and perform procedures necessary for patient care.
  • Operate equipment required for patient care as assigned.
  • Monitor and interpret data reflective of the patient's acute or critical status.
  • Follow unit policies and procedures for care delivery.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (required).
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee (required).
  • BLS certification completed prior to unit assignment and maintained (required).
  • For non-Tennessee residents, Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire.
  • Knowledge of general nursing principles, organizational functions, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with current trends and new developments in nursing.

Full-time, nights at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
