RN - Mental Health Consult Liaison - Roanoke - Days

About the role

This position is based onsite at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) in Roanoke, VA, working full time, 3-12 hour shifts from 0645-1915pm, weekends and holidays may be included. The nurse will work with the psychiatry consult liaison team that sees patients with mental health diagnosis while admitted medically across the system.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
• Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Affirms and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
• Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
• Supports orientation and training of new employees.
• Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
• Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities.
• Supports education activities within the department.
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
• AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records.
• For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
