RN Medical Intensive Care Unit

About the role

The Saint Joseph Mercy Health System 6 North Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 20‑bed unit that provides services to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic Heart Failure patients, as well as medical/surgical patients who require cardiac monitoring. The unit is located at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care
• Uses teach back methodology to educate patient and family
• Actively seeks to prevent potential hospital acquired
• Effectively communicates patient status, priority goals and interventions during consultations, rounds and handoffs
• Follows all HIPAA policies and procedures
• Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing that enables the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become a licensed Registered Nurse
• BSN preferred
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification
• ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, and Emergency departments
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Effective January 1, 2013: all new hires must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five (5) years of hire or transfer to an RN role
