RN Medical Intensive Care Unit

Shift: 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. | Employment Type: Full time, Part time | Department: MICU | Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

About the Role

The Saint Joseph Mercy Health System 6 North Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 20-bed unit that provides services to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic Heart Failure patients, as well as medical/surgical patients who require cardiac monitoring. Every other weekend and every other holiday per year required for full-time and part-time team members.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care
• Uses teach-back methodology to educate patient and family
• Actively seeks to prevent potential hospital-acquired conditions
• Effectively communicates patient status, priority goals and interventions during consultations, rounds and handoffs
• Follows all HIPAA policies and procedures
• Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing that results in eligibility to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency departments)
• BSN preferred; new hires after January 1, 2013 must have a BSN or agree in writing to obtain one within five years of hire
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age-specific needs
• Interpersonal skills to maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families
• Critical thinking skills for performing principal duties and responsibilities
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
