About the Role
Full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) joining the Med/Surg team. New graduates are welcome. The position includes a $20,000 sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Direct, supervise, provide, and evaluate nursing care delivered to patients.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs, potential for harm, task complexity, and staff scope of practice.
- Assign nursing care team members according to patient needs and team members’ capabilities and qualifications.
- Document patient admission assessments, reassessments, care plans, and other pertinent information in the medical record according to nursing standards.
- Perform assessments on all patients at admission and during reassessments; make referrals to other disciplines as appropriate.
- Develop and update nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain‑management techniques, and educate patients and families about pain management.
- Revise the plan of care based on patient response and evaluate its effectiveness daily.
- Provide patient care that meets age‑specific standards of care.
- Receive physician orders, ensure accurate transcription, and document completion.
- Administer medication using the five rights to reduce medication errors.
- Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs, evaluate effectiveness, and include families as appropriate.
- Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special procedures; perform services within scope of practice.
- Perform treatments and provide services at the level of licensure.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Function as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Interact professionally with patients/families and involve them in the formation of the plan of care.
- Interpret patient data to identify age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
- Initiate or assist with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients’ condition.
- Answer telephone, paging system, and call lights; anticipate patient needs; make rounds and respond appropriately.
- Consult other departments as needed to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
- Provide end‑of‑shift report, count narcotics, ensure documentation is complete, and have physician orders signed off.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with management, co‑workers, and physicians.
- Identify and address psychosocial needs; coordinate with Social Services/Discharge Planner for in‑hospital and post‑discharge needs.
- Participate in orientation and training of new personnel.
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Serve on hospital committees as assigned by the director/manager.
- Perform and record chart audits as assigned.
- Maintain accurate cycle counts of narcotics on the unit.
- Check and log crash carts, verify equipment functionality with and without power.
- Check crash‑cart medication/supply levels and lock integrity; report discrepancies to pharmacy, director, and RL Solutions.
- Conduct daily briefs, debriefs, and huddles according to facility policy.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) rounds daily and coordinate staff nurses at the bedside.
- Assign medical and surgical nursing care to rapid response and code teams daily based on team members’ capabilities.
- Report unexpected events via RL Solutions, attaching relevant documentation.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, or an Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- De‑escalation training required.
- Minimum six months of medical/surgical experience in an acute‑care setting preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities, and function effectively in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking of English.
- Consistent attendance and reliability.
- Travel requirement: 0%.

Schedule
Full‑time, 36 hours per week. Shift: 1900 – 0700 with weekend and holiday rotation.
