About The Unit
5 North is a 38-bed unit caring for a wide variety of medical and surgical patients. The unit accommodates patients needing telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring. Patient-nurse ratios are adjusted based on acuity. Nurses collaborate with universities to support student nurses through precepting, support, and role modeling. The goal is to deliver high-quality healthcare services efficiently, effectively, and compassionately, welcoming patient families.

Established in 1965, it has grown to serve as a Level II trauma center and is the base teaching hospital for Michigan State University.
Scope of Work
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family-centered care principles. The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures. They partner with and utilize patient/family input and goals in developing a care plan and teaching strategies. Documentation of education and learning is done appropriately in the health record.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nursing required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and pass the NCLEX licensure examination
Mi Registered Nurse (RN) required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Schedule
Full-time, Day shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, variable weekend frequency every other weekend.
