About the role

The Registered Nurse Maternal Fetal Medicine position at NCH is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in patient care situations. This role requires minimal supervision and involves providing direct nursing care to patients, teaching, and leading others.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality and understands legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information.
• Able to use relevant information systems.
• Participates in data collection and performs thorough new patient assessments.
• Identifies and prioritizes patient needs, evaluates data, and implements a functional plan of care.
• Delegates patient care tasks to other team members within their scope of practice.
• Delivers patient care and treatment using problem-solving skills and coordinates patient/family teaching.
• Evaluates outcomes of care and addresses discharge instructions.
• Documents clearly and consistently in the EMR.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, peers, superiors, and physicians.
• Assists with departmental activities to ensure operational and salary expenses are within budget.
• Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of current policies.
• Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to plan effective treatment and interventions.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with obstetrical and neonatal nursing diagnoses.
• Knowledge of unit-specific policies and procedures.
• Effective use of the supply system.
