Job Description

The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) provides nursing care to patients, conducting systematic assessments, administering medications, planning care, implementing interventions, and teaching patients and families. They collaborate with the healthcare team and advocate for patient and family rights.

Essential Functions

• Conducts systematic, continuous, and comprehensive assessments of patient health status.
• Administers medications per licensure authority and documents administration accurately.
• Plans care using current scientific knowledge and incorporates data from the multi-disciplinary care team.
• Identifies and prioritizes patient problems, reflecting sensitivity to age, learning needs, and cultural background.
• Achieves desired outcomes by assessing, conducting, and evaluating patient responses to interventions.
• Prepares patients and families for discharge and seeks feedback to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Collaborates with unlicensed assistive healthcare providers while ensuring safe patient care.
• Communicates effectively with the healthcare team and advocates for patient rights.

• Orients new members of the healthcare team and supervises students.
• Maintains professional competency through continuing education and participation in evidence-based practice activities.
• Participates in resolving clinical and interdepartmental problems and gives and receives peer review and feedback.
