About the role
Provides psychiatric nursing services to patients within Bowen Health Recovery Center, focusing on administering medication and conducting daily assessments.
Responsibilities
- Administer methadone in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Document all medication dispensed and nursing progress notes in EMR (Methasoft).
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and update treatment plans in EMR.
- Assist medical doctor with history and physicals and external referrals.
- Follow up with external referral sources to ensure documentation is received and provided to the medical team.
- Ensure clients are updated on urine drug screens and documentation of results in EMR.
- Utilize nursing process to assess and develop nursing plans addressing health problems.
- Avoid travel to take medication to other facilities.
- Notify doctor and other members of the treatment team of changes in health status and adverse reactions to medication.
- Maintain medication inventory and reconcile at the end of each shift.
- Facilitate transfers of patients to other OTP clinics if necessary.
- Establish and utilize a user account for Lighthouse Registry to track dosing and prevent diversion.
- Provide emergency nursing intervention, including CPR and Narcan administration, in case of unresponsiveness.
Requirements
- RN or LPN license in the State of Indiana.
- Two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and active liability insurance.
- Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
Skills
- Working knowledge of OTP state and federal regulations for dispensing methadone.
- Familiarity with and ability to comply with standards of professional conduct.
- Critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the nursing process and excellent assessment skills.
- Ability to function as a multidisciplinary team member and develop collaborative working relationships.
- Willingness to learn about addictions theory and effective recovery treatment modalities.
- Knowledge of co-occurring morbidities in behavioral health and physical health.
- Required level of education, training, and licensing qualifications.
- General computer skills and ability to efficiently navigate computer software (Methasoft).
- Knowledge of Bowen Health Policies and Procedures, Safety Standards, and Emergency Plan.
- CPR certification and Narcan Administration.
