Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates patient care delivery by the health care team using the nursing process. They assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, develop and implement a plan of care, and evaluate patient responses. The RN also promotes safe passage for patients by assisting them through their healthcare encounters.
Essential Functions of the Role
Clinical Judgment: Conducts accurate clinical assessments, identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs, and modifies the nursing plan of care based on outcomes.
Clinical Inquiry: Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, supports evidence-based practice changes, and participates in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
Caring Practices: Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment, develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families, and manages emotional and physical pain.
Response to Diversity: Recognizes and incorporates patient and family differences into an individualized plan of care.
Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserves and protects patient and family confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights, and facilitates informed decision-making.
Collaboration: Works collaboratively with colleagues and community members to develop and implement an integrated plan of care.
Systems Thinking: Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving, recognizes resource limitations, and considers safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering patient care.
Professionalism: Improves nursing practice and the work environment through participation in shared governance and decision-making processes, and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
Knowledge and Understanding
Nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies, and procedures.
Medical terminology; principles and practices of health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease prevention and management; medications and their effects, and patient privacy rights.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited program in Nursing.
2 years of experience.
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
