RN Lactation Consultant PRN

About the Role

The RN Lactation Consultant provides evidence-based education, hands-on support, and compassionate guidance to new parents to promote successful breastfeeding and infant nutrition. Collaborating with the healthcare team, they assess needs, develop feeding plans, and ensure family confidence throughout their hospital stay.

The position involves documenting consultations, tracking outcomes, and delivering lactation management training to staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based lactation education and hands-on support to new parents.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to assess needs and develop feeding plans.
• Ensure family confidence in breastfeeding and infant nutrition during hospital stay.
• Document consultations and track outcomes.
• Deliver lactation management training to staff and students.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• Maryland RN licensure.
• BLS certification.
• IBCLC or CLC certification.
• NRP certification (required within 6 months of hire).
• Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in maternal-newborn care.

Schedule

PRN role with scheduled 12-hour shifts based on departmental needs.
