RN- Lactation Consultant

About the role

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a civilian Registered Nurse (RN) at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position offers an outpatient setting with modern facilities and the freedom from on-call responsibilities, emphasizing a balanced work-life environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide patient care.
• Facilitate the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and practices as outlined by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
• Perform physical examinations and health history assessments.
• Provide health promotion, counseling, and education services.
• Administer medications, conduct wound care, and perform other personalized interventions.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to meet patient needs and document care plans.
• Assess patients' nutritional needs and communicate with healthcare teams regarding feeding plans, risks, and benefits.
• Recognize and respond promptly to adverse signs and symptoms in emergency situations.
• Communicate effectively with diverse groups to inform the healthcare team and educate patients and families.
• Make referrals for specialty care as needed.
• Conduct research to improve practice and patient outcomes.
• Perform comprehensive lactation assessments for government beneficiaries.
• Provide comprehensive care to mothers desiring to breastfeed, assessing anatomy and creating a supportive environment.
• Conduct daily bedside lactation rounds.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (NLNAC or CCNE).
• Three years of nursing experience following graduation.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
