About the role

The RN INPATIENT - All Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU) at UNM Hospital offers opportunities for professional growth through specialized training and a Clinical Advancement Program. The role includes working at New Mexico's only Level 1 Trauma Center and being part of a supportive academic medical center environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
• Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
• Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure proper consent has been obtained
• Participate in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel
• Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
• Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
• Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
• Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Requirements

Nationally Accredited Nursing Program Graduate
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by the State of New Mexico
CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of start date
Obtain UNMH IV Verification within 6 months of position
Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Bilingual English/Spanish, Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
PREFERRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Nationally Certified in area of specialty

Pay

Base Rate based on experience:
Minimum Offer: $ 34.84/hr.
Maximum Offer: $ 47.33/hr.
